A Nigerian frontline businessman and philanthropist, Sir Emeka Offor has been named the highest donor in Africa to the cause of Rotary International.

According to the Organsation, Offor’s total contribution to date amounted to $1.031million, and would be honoured by the chairman, Rotary Foundation Tustees, Wilfrid J. Wilkinson in a letter to the Rotary foundation Dinner in Offor’s honour organized by Rotary International District 9125, Nigeria, held in Abuja.

In the letter, read by past Rotary President, Jonathan in Babatunde Majiyagbe, the organization said, “Your generous contributions this year to the rotary peace centres, the polio plus initiative, education and literacy, maternal and child health, and the annual fund have brought your total gifts to the foundation to $1, 031, 000.

Your financial contributions as of this date is the highest of any donor in Africa..

Your exceeding generous gifts will help to bring peace throughout the world, will provide opportunities for children to be educated and will bring about healthier mothers and children.

“When Nigeria is removed from the list of endemic countries, you will have the joy of knowing that you assisted in attaining that special milestone. Thank you for all your gifts. It is an honour to have such a seasoned business professional and philanthropist among our ranks of Rotarians.
